We are highly specialized in pathologies of the bones, nerves, and tendons of the upper limb, particularly the hand. Our service is capable of promptly managing all cases of hand trauma. Our surgery employs the most modern microsurgery techniques.

Diagnosis

To determine the necessity of surgery, accurate diagnosis supported by instrumental tests is essential, including:

  • CT scan
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Ultrasound
  • Electromyography

Fractures

  • Wrist fractures (radius and ulna, among the most frequent fractures, treated with modern low-profile anatomical plates or with percutaneous elastic systems that do not require incision)
  • Metacarpal fractures (treatment with static osteosynthesis or with an original percutaneous endomedullary method allowing complete hand mobility immediately, avoiding stiffness)
  • Scaphoid fractures (a subtle fracture requiring a wide range of osteosynthesis techniques and specific experience to achieve complete healing)
  • Phalanx fractures and dislocations (the complex anatomy of the hand fingers and the high risk of post-traumatic stiffness require timely, balanced treatments integrated with highly specific rehabilitation aspects)

Complex hand wounds

  • Flexor and extensor tendon injuries (surgical treatment of hand tendon injuries relies on timeliness and accuracy for therapeutic success)
  • Nerve injuries (microsurgery techniques using the operating microscope and specific devices like neural guides are indispensable)

Wrist ligament injuries (treatment using modern arthroscopic techniques)

  • Scapholunate instability
  • Lunotriquetral instability
  • Distal radioulnar instability
  • Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) injuries

Amputations

  • Finger or hand amputations (availability of a dedicated team capable of promptly intervening 24/7, assisted by the latest dedicated technology, is unique in the regional private healthcare landscape)
