Breast Microbiopsy

Breast microbiopsy and needle aspiration are both second-level examinations that allow physicians to study the benign or malignant nature of any abnormalities identified during first-level examinations such as breast ultrasound, mammography, or breast examination.

• Breast microbiopsy is a procedure performed under local anesthesia, guided by ultrasound by a radiologist or surgeon. It involves using a small needle to remove tiny tissue samples that the physician intends to subject to further study (histological examination). The procedure lasts a few minutes and does not require any special preparation. After the procedure, the patient will need to wait for the results.
• Needle aspiration is a procedure performed under ultrasound guidance by a radiologist or surgeon. It involves using a common syringe needle to collect samples of cells from areas of the breast considered suspicious by the physician for further analysis (cytological examination). The procedure lasts a few minutes and does not require anesthesia or special preparation. After the procedure, the patient will need to wait for the results.
